April, has possibly been one of the hardest month to choose photo for my ‘Monthly Photo Post’, as it has been one of the busiest and most fun months of my Transition Year! The photo was taken, just after the Mud Run, which we did, at the start of the month. The mud run, has been one of the best experience of my Transition Year, and it was something, that I will remember fondly, for a long time! It was such a sense of achievement, when I completed the 5k. Despite it being freezing cold, the mud run was unforgettable!

This photograph was taken when on the annual school trip, which was in Italy, and it was when we were on a boat trip from Amalfi to Maiori, and were just after going around the Amalfi Coast, which had unbelievable views. In the photo are all the boys that are in Transition Year who went on the tour! The tour itself was simply amazing, and was definitely the highlight of not only the month, but possibly my school year. It was an unforgettable experience, and this photo just sums up the whole trip perfectly! Everyone was so happy, and the sun was belting down! The trip to Italy was unbelievable, and the 4 others in the photograph, helped to make it such an unforgettable experience. Still now, over a week since we returned, we are all still talking about the trip non-stop! I am sure that we will still be talking about Italy 2016 for many years to come!

Monthly Photo Post – February

TY First Aid Training

This, undoubtedly is my favourite photo of February, as it is an extremely interesting photo, of me, and three other Transition Year Students, learning an extremely valuable skill – Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), as part of our First Aid Training, held by Siren Training and Consultancy. It was one of the most eye-opening aspects of February, and also my Transition Year, was the First Aid training, which was undergone in the school gym.We underwent the course in one school day. On Friday  26th of February. All TY students gathered in the school gym, before being greeted by our tutor for the day, who would be teaching us the ‘Basic First Aid’ course single-handedly. It was honestly one of the most eye-opening experiences for me in my TY, as I have underwent training in areas such as CPR, Wounds, Bandaging and Heart Conditions.I loved this photo also, as it was mid-CPR, and it could be said that it was an ‘action-shot’

Monthly Photo Post – January

To make my blog more interesting and to keep track of my favourite photos that I have took in the past month, I have decided to start up a ‘Monthly Photo Post’, where I will choose my favourite picture of each month.

About This Photo

L-R: Myself, Gerard, Tomás, Aaron.

This photograph was taken by the teacher who supervised on our ‘Taster Day’ in the LYIT – Mrs Galbraith. This was during the first of many different sessions that were provided by the different departments. We were in the Business Department, when this photo was taken. In this we were learning about the various roles that occur in a workplace (ie: HR Manager, Admin. Staff, CEO, etc). I really like this photo, as it shows a more ‘academic’ side of TY, that is often overlooked when we review what has happened over the year. It is important to note that in Transition Year, a lot of learning still goes on, no matter how it may vary from the more rigidly structured Junior & Senior Cycles.  This photo also appeals to me, as January had been quite a quiet month, in regards to the out-of-school activities, however we were still very busy as always, and had been learning in a unique learning style once again!

Monthly Photo Post – December

To make my blog more interesting and to keep track of my favourite photos that I have took in the past month, I have decided to start up a ‘Monthly Photo Post’, where I will choose my favourite picture of each month.

This photo was taken, while on the Transition Year christmas Trip in Belfast. It was taken while we were out shopping, in the city, after going ice-skating. This trip was really fun, and I have really happy memories of the day. We were heading back to the bus at this point, before going on to see the Coca Cola Lorry, outside the SSE (Odyssey)  Arena. I also liked this photo, and chose it to feature as my ‘Monthly Photo Post’ as everyone was so happy, and we all were having such a good day! This certainly is one of my most fond memories of my Transition Year so far!

Monthly Photo Post – November

TY Panel at the National Parents Council Post Primary Annual Conference in the INEC, Killarney

To make my blog more interesting and to keep track of my favourite photos that I have took in the past month, I have decided to start up a ‘Monthly Photo Post’, where I will choose my favourite picture of each month.

About This Photo

L-R: Finian O’Connor – TY Coordinator, Ashbourne CS, David Kelly, Ex – TY Student, Myself, Clive Byrne – Head of the National Association of Principals & Deputy Principals (NAPD) & Edwin Lanzaard – TY Ireland.

This photo is by far, my favourite photo of me in November. This photo was took right after I Stepped off the stage after the TY Ireland Panel, at the National Parents Council of Post Primary Secondary Schools Annual Conference in the INEC in Killarney. The Conference was an unbelievable experience, and I honestly would say that it has been my favourite experience of my Transition Year so far! I was really chuffed to be asked to take part in the nationwide event. It was unbelievable to get the chance to step up onto the stage and speak about my opinions on Transition Year. I couldn’t believe that I was able to speak in front of 200-300 people, and it was a really proud moment for me as I was able to slightly overcome my fear of Public Speaking!

Monthly Photo Post – October

To make my blog more interesting and to keep track of my favourite photos that I have took in the past month, I have decided to start up a ‘Monthly Photo Post’, where I will choose my favourite picture of each month.

This photo is by far my favourite picture that I took in October. This photo was taken on the 2nd of October. This was taken just after we had got back on to the beach after surfing. Even though we were all freezing and soaked we were all in such good humour after surfing. We were all waiting about on the beach, before the beach games started, while other people were still getting changed.  In it, is a good part pf my class, TY1, and we titled it ‘The Partial TY1 Post-Surfing Selfie !’ I really like this photo as it turned out so much better than I expected, and I am sure that there will be many more ‘Monthly Photo Posts’ to follow!
